Before there was OfferUp, there was eBay. EBay is really the OG, the original auction selling site that started all the other ones similar to OfferUp. It might be the best OfferUp alternative because of how many users it has!
So when thinking about websites like OfferUp, this is the one that paved the way for Offer Up!
Ebay is a huge online marketplace of sellers and buyers. It is actually a publicly traded stock now!
It was started in 1995, so it has been around forever and is a multi-billion dollar business. It is an excellent site to shop on or to try to sell your items on.
If you are selling things, they do charge a small listing fee of around $0.20. In addition however, they charge a commission off of anything you sell. But you can still make some quick cash.
The commission fee varies by selling category, but is usually around 13% which is pretty high. This is a definite con to selling on eBay.
However, getting in front of so many possible buyers may increase the chance of selling your item, and even selling it for more dollars. This makes it one of the best apps like OfferUp.

Another selling site like OfferUp is Locanto. Locanto includes a ton of categories of listings, and even includes services and real estate.
Locanto is similar to CraigsList with the variety of listings. There are even job postings and they have started a dating feature.
You choose your location and will get the relevant local postings. They describe their site as free classified ads.
One of the benefits of Locanto is that you can list and sell items for free. They do however offer more features if you opt for the paid plan.

And, since Mercari is pretty well-known, there is a large marketplace included with it.
4. Facebook Marketplace
This is one of my favorite sites for selling items on and an awesome OfferUp alternative. It is a go-to for many people looking to buy items that are used, and even new. And, if you are looking for local buyers this is a favorite.
You can sell on Facebook marketplace locally through pick up or by meeting with the buyer. But you can also expand your market to the whole country if you offer shipping.
And, they now offer you to the options of printing a prepaid shipping label to ship items at a discount.
Facebook Marketplace is an app like Offer Up and is easy to sell on. You can get your item in front of a lot of possible buyers. Or, if you are looking to purchase something you can find a lot of good finds and deals.
With ratings on buyers and sellers on Facebook Marketplace, it helps you feel safe purchasing and selling on the site. You can see what someone’s ratings and reviews are and feel safe to sell or buy from them.
Talking to people about items is also super easy compared to other apps since it routes messages directly to you through Facebook Messenger.
And, best of all, they don’t charge fees for you to sell!

Speaking of Craigslist lol! It is an excellent Offer Up alternative for buying and selling goods. It has been around forever and is a favorite of local sellers. Just like eBay, it started in 1995.
The website itself looks old-school. It is the same simple design it has been forever. But, you can get your products in front of a lot of people and sell stuff just the same!
You don’t need a fancy interface to find good deals or make money selling. They are a free classified ads website.
With listings in tons of categories, from furniture, to cars and real estate to job postings and services, you can find what you need.
There are also discussion forums where you can interact with others. There are no fees to list on Craigslist, making it an ideal place to list.
Everything is mostly local however. You have to visit the Craigslist for your particular city or area.
With so many types of listings, a discussion forum, gigs and community listings, it is a lot more comprehensive than OfferUp or some of the other OfferUp alternatives.

Etsy is another website like OfferUp where you can purchase or sell things. It is a little different from the other sites and apps in our list in that it has always been more focused on vintage, antique or hand-crafted items.
But, they have opened up the online marketplace in recent years beyond those categories. There’s still a lot even in those categories that you can sell! Antiques alone includes a lot.
But, you can now sell fashion items, downloadable printables and even furniture. There are listing fees and commissions you will pay for selling your items.
You can create a whole store of your own though cheaply and quickly. With the ability to purchase ads, you can pay to promote your items and get them in front of even more people.
Etsy has been around since 2005 and has over 50 million users, so it is an extremely well-known, highly popular site! Other apps do not get as much traffic as Etsy.
Etsy is one of the best sites for selling products as well if you have an online business. It is user friendly and easy to list items.

Oodle is another selling app like OfferUp but you can actually sell some slightly more unusual items on it!
In addition to all the usual items, you can find antiques, real estate for rent, jobs and even pets! You can actually buy or sell a horse on Oodle!
It is only for local selling though, you can’t sell items to people that would require shipping which is a definite downside.
You can buy and sell large ticket items like cars as well. When you visit the website, you have to put in your location right away. You will see local listings.
Oodle is a buying and selling marketplace that also allows for services and job postings.
If you are in the market to buy or sell clothes you should check out Poshmark, one of our most well known apps like OfferUp in this list. It is an awesome alternative to OfferUp since it is primarily focused on clothing and accessories.
Poshmark is very well-known now, so the marketplace of buyers and sellers is large. They have over 60 million users, a lot more than other apps!
You can even buy skincare and beauty products. Poshmark is also known as being one of the best apps to find designer brands for less. Most of the items are used.

Another site like OfferUp where you can sell items is Swappa. Swappa is a little different in that it is focused on tech items.
So, if you want to sell or buy an old smartphone or gaming system, this is the site for you. You can sell just about any tech item, even laptops.
They do not charge any seller fees which means more money for you.
Another site like OfferUp that allows you to buy and sell online is Bookoo.
It does not have as many users though as many others on our list. There are just over 3 million users now but it is local sales in your neighborhood only. So, it is only available in certain cities.
So, if it is available in your region, it is worth checking out. They actually talk about how the site is to “buy and sell with your neighbors.” It works well as a digital yard sale. You can only pay people in person though.
Listia is a site where you can get new items, but it is not exactly like OfferUp in that you actually have to swap products. So this may not be the best choice out of our list of apps like OfferUp.
You can sell products for credits and then in turn use your credits for different items for sale on the site.
It is a little limiting since you can’t just get cash for your items.

Tips For Using Sites Like Offer Up
Now that you’ve learned the best OfferUp alternatives, here are some tips to help you sell stuff on them!
1. Write Thorough Descriptions
One tip for selling items on sites like OfferUp is to make sure you are very thorough in the descriptions you write. You want people to fully understand the item, and any issues that there might be if it is a used item.
And, always including dimensions. I know as a buyer, I can get frustrated when someone sells an item but doesn’t tell the dimensions up front in the description.
Be in-depth and provide as many details as possible. You want to sell your item! Including the original, manufacturer’s price on something can help them to know what a great deal you are providing.
Tell the brand, size and any other specifics that buyers will want to know. The age of an item and condition are very important.
It can increase the speed with which you sell, plus it will minimize people messaging you with questions.
2. Use Quality Photos
This is probably the best selling tip. The photos are extremely important for selling on apps like OfferUp. You want to show your items in the best possible light, so take good quality photos.
Natural light works well. Make sure you show images of any imperfections so people understand the state of the item.
And use a lot of pictures! It can help you sell things more quickly and grab buyer’s attention when they are searching the apps.
3. Respond to Potential Buyers Quickly
Whenever someone messages you about an item you are selling, make sure you respond quickly.
It can help you sell things more quickly and make buyers trust you more.
4. Research Prices
Price can be important for selling. In most cases, people are on apps like OfferUp because they are looking for more affordable prices.
Make sure you know the original cost of what you are selling. And, make sure you research what other people on the app are selling the same item for.
If your price is way higher than everyone else’s, you won’t like sell yours.
